Today, Ubisoft Australia announced the official theme of the Oceanic Nationals 2021, ‘Clockwork’, by Australian musicians, Northlane.
‘Clockwork’ is an exciting collaboration between Ubisoft Australia and Northlane focusing on the themes of competition, time and dreaming big. The release of the song coincides and celebrates the start of the Oceanic Nationals, the premier Rainbow Six Siege tournament of the Oceanic region.
“Clockwork reflects the pressures and anxieties I felt as we jumped back into writing after an uninspiring year,” said Marcus Bridge, Northlane lead singer. “I always want to push myself creatively but with life on hold and with no end in sight, I felt empty and lonely, running out of time as our self-imposed deadline approached.”
‘Clockwork’ came together with each member of the band recording their parts remotely before being mixed and mastered by Adam “Nolly” Getgood (Periphery / Devin Townsend) and Ermin Hamidovic (Periphery / Sylosis) respectively, the same team behind prior album Alien.
“We’re really excited to be able to work with Northlane for the Oceanic Nationals, Rainbow Six Siege’s premier esports league in our region,” said Edward Fong, Managing Director of Ubisoft Asia Pacific.
“As esports continues to grow in Australia, it opens up more opportunities to collaborate with other industries and talent to provide our players more ways to connect with their favourite games. We’re thrilled to have Northlane’s new song ‘Clockwork’ as the theme song for our local Oceanic Nationals.”
The 2021 season of the Oceanic Nationals will begin on Sunday, March 21, with the eight best teams in Australia and New Zealand competing for a $100,000 AUD seasonal prize pool. The song will be incorporated into the broadcast on twitch.tv/Rainbow6Bravo.
