Twitch Gives Streamers & Viewers More Ways To Chat

Streamers now have a new way to interact with their audience and monetise their content at the same time.

Introducing Hype Chat, a new tool which allows viewers to pay to pin messages in their favourite streamers’ Chats. Hype Chat gives audiences the chance to catch streamers’ attention when the Chat is moving too fast, while also opening up a new revenue option for Partner streamers.

This makes up part of Twitch’s work to create more monetisation experiences that help streamers better engage with their viewers, increase their earnings potential while also incentivising support amongst their viewership.

Here are some of the key details on Hype Chat for you to know.

  • It is designed with safety top of mind – applying existing safety features for Chat (e.g blocking banned users and words/phrases, and AutoMod filtering of messages) as well as brand new safety features specific to Hype chat.
  • It is available to all Partners on Twitch – because Partners have larger communities on Twitch and therefore have faster-moving Chats.
  • It integrates directly with Twitch’s Alerts – which help to encourage more viewers to support streamers by making commerce features like Hype Chat even more interactive and rewarding for viewers.
  • It will live alongside other core monetisation experiences like Subs, Gifts, and Cheering with Bits.
