This past weekend, Twitch wrapped its first IRL TwitchCon since 2019, TwitchCon Amsterdam. TwitchCon celebrates the best of interactive livestreaming as well as our global Creators and the powerful online communities that they’ve built.
The sold-out convention brought members of Twitch’s global community—everyone from Creators, to Mods, to viewers—to celebrate their shared passions together, in person. From the gaming contests during our Twitch Rivals Ultimate Challenge III to our first-ever Twitch Drag Showcase, TwitchCon Amsterdam provided entertainment and community building all weekend long.
Below are some highlights from TwitchCon Amsterdam 2022:
- The first IRL TwitchCon event since 2019, saw thousands of creators and members of the community contributing in-person to the sold-out event, which took place in Amsterdam this past weekend.
- During the Opening Ceremony keynote, Twitch CEO and Co-founder Emmett Shear outlined Twitch’s core commitments to our community: 1) Helping streamers attract viewers, 2) Building safe and welcoming communities in chat, and 3) Helping streamers make money from going live. Watch the full VOD here.
- Also part of the Opening Ceremony, Shear highlighted nearly 30 products and upcoming features, including Pinned Chat, Raid Upgrades, Guest Star, Freeform Tags, Ads Incentive Program, and more, which received resounding applause and cheers from the crowd inside of Glitch Theatre and positive community sentiment in Chat.
- Twitch Creators DonaTarte and Nikkie_Stones hosted TwitchCon’s first-ever Drag Showcase, which earned an IRL standing ovation and saw live Chat messages lit up with approbation. The Drag Showcase featured electrifying performances from well-known Queens on Twitch: Eevoh, MargeMellow, HeatherPhetish, AubreyWodonga, hungxiety, and MissCookieDoe.
