Today Aussie-based charity GenerOZity announced the launch of GenerOZity Projects, a public benevolent fund charity, with Project Panda being the first supported initiative. GenerOZity Project’s mission is to provide benevolent relief to those experiencing poverty, distress, suffering, misfortune, and other forms of disadvantage.
Project Panda aims to improve the lives of disadvantaged youths and the homeless through education, empowerment and support. According to Homelessness Australia via ABS Census 2021 data, 122,494 Australians are experiencing homelessness nightly.
To kick off the launch of GenerOZity Projects, Ryan “PandaTV” Dingle and Karl “The Lyrical” Smith have hit the road on a five-day mission to bring awareness about Australians facing homelessness. PandaTV and The Lyrical will take the Project Panda Van across Victoria, handing out backpacks of essential supplies and sharing stories from the homeless community in Australia. Those wishing to follow along with the duo can do so on PandaTV’s Instagram. Donors looking to support Project Panda can donate here.
“This road trip has proved to me that it doesn’t matter whether you live in the city or a rural area, the same issues are occurring all over Australia,” said Ryan Dingle. “Homeless people are being ignored and pushed out or pushed on to the next city, Australia-wide. That’s why Project Panda is part of GenerOZity Projects – we’re getting out there and doing something about it.”
As part of the launch, The Lyrical will perform at The Penny Black in Brunswick, VIC for one night only tonight, 10 January at 7PM. Entry will be free for all attendees, who can donate to Project Panda at the venue. All donations will be tax deductible. The remainder of performances will be busker-style on the streets across Victoria, with all proceeds going to Project Panda.
“It has been eye-opening going to many different rural towns, talking to councils, and hearing how the issue of homelessness is ‘not that bad’,” said Karl Smith. “Compare those placating politicians’ words to the self-funded support programs that say over and over that the issue is bigger than ever and growing. They were being made to skirt around the truth – to make sure the town’s reputation is preserved above all else.”
The GenerOZity 16 charity show will start at the end of January to raise money for Project Panda. The charity show will run from January 29th until the 31st, with involved content creators streaming from all over Australia.
GenerOZity has also partnered with PAX to sell GenerOZity Project Pinny Arcade pins that will be available at shows across the United States, with all proceeds being split between GenerOZity Projects and Child’s Play Charity. Pin designs and details will be announced later.
“GenerOZity Projects is a vision we’ve nurtured for years,” said GenerOZity founder Joel Rennie. “Our mission has always been to raise awareness and funds for meaningful causes, but we also felt the growing need to take direct action ourselves. We set up GenerOZity Projects as a Public Benevolent Institution so we can finally get hands-on with helping the Australian community. We invite everyone to keep an eye on the incredible work happening through Project Panda, as this is just the beginning.”
GenerOZity has raised over $700,000 for charities across Australia, such as Cure Cancer Australia, Childsplay Charity, Checkpoint Organisation, and Fire & Rescue Services (RFS/CFA), with 100% of each donation going to the chosen charity.
