Following a successful press tour with Australian cast Josh Lawson, Sisi Stringer and Director Simon McQuoid with Premiere events staged around the country, Mortal Kombat has flown out of the gates earning $4.07m including early sneaks on Wednesday evening making it the #1 opener this week.
This sensational number represents the 2nd biggest R rated opening of all time in Australia behind 2014’s The Wolf of Wall St ($5.13m) and beating Eyes Wide Shut ($2.55m), The Hateful Eight ($2.42m) and Kill Bill Vol.1 ($2.26m). The film also had a whopping 44% market share. Mortal Kombat has seen an incredible response from fans all over the world sharing positive reactions across the board.
