Indie publisher Fellow Traveller and developer Jump Over The Age have announced that Citizen Sleeper will be available on May 5th for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Steam, GOG, Epic, Humble and, just-announced, the Nintendo Switch on May 5th. Citizen Sleeper will also be available day one on Xbox Game Pass.
From Jump Over The Age, the developer of the acclaimed In Other Waters, which incidentally was released two years ago to the day, Citizen Sleeper follows the journey of you, a Sleeper – a digitised human consciousness who is on the run from the corporation who own the artificial body you inhabit. You’ve now washed up on Erlin’s Eye, a ruined space station on the edges of an interstellar capitalist society.
With no choice but to make the best of the opportunities that Erlin’s Eye provides, you must build relationships with the station’s unique occupants from all walks of life, work to earn your keep, and navigate ramshackle factions if you hope to survive until the next cycle.
Taking inspiration from the versatile mechanics of tabletop RPGs, Citizen Sleeper challenges players to rely on their intuition and make bold decisions to secure their safety and build a life aboard the station. Despite the looming threat of a corporation that seeks to recover its assets (that’s you), it’s up to the roll of the dice to determine the Sleeper’s future and whether they thrive, survive or otherwise.
The announcement includes a new release trailer featuring music from the soundtrack composed by Amos Roddy (Kingdom: Two Crowns, Strafe, In Other Waters) and striking character art created by renowned French comic book artist Guillaume Singelin. Players will be able to hear and see a lot more of their work in the final game. Citizen Sleeper is currently featuring in the London Games Festival and launches on the first day of LudoNarraCon, the leading indie digital convention hosted by Fellow Traveller, running May 5th – May 9th.
