Epic Games today announced one of Australia’s most popular content creators Lachlan Power, the second Australian to join the Fortnite Icon Series will receive an in-game wearable Fortnite Outfit inspired by his likeness and design. By equipping the ‘Lachlan Outfit’ in Fortnite, players will be able to change their character to look like Lachlan.
The Brisbane local, who is known by his online audience as “Lachlan”, has a combined social media following of over 19 million and is being celebrated for his contributions to the global Fortnite community.
“Fortnite has been a big part of my success and I have wanted to collaborate with them for a while because they’re one of the most successful video games in the world,” said Lachlan. “I am very grateful to Epic Games for this opportunity and look forward to wearing my Outfit in my future Fortnite content!”
Fortnite players will also be able to look like Lachlan while playing by purchasing the ‘Lachlan Bundle’, a collection of four in-game wearable items inspired by Lachlan. The Lachlan Bundle includes the ‘Lachlan’ Outfit, ‘PWR Pack’ Back Bling, ‘PWR Slicers’ Pickaxe and ‘PWR Punch’ Emote. The ‘Lachlan Bundle’ will be available for purchase in the Fortnite Item Store from November 13.
“My Icon Series Bundle is centred around electricity, inspired by my signature lighting bolt icon from my clothing brand PWR Supply, which I launched in 2018,” said Lachlan. “I wanted the Outfit to feel powerful by incorporating energy and electricity elements whilst drawing on aspects from streetwear apparel culture.”
Lachlan revealed his Outfit this morning in a YouTube video which amassed 486,000 views in its first two hours. Players have a chance to be one of the first in the world to receive the Lachlan Outfit by competing in Lachlan’s Pickaxe Frenzy tournament in Fortnite on Sunday 8 November from 12pm AEDT.
Lachlan is the latest Australian to join the Fortnite Icon Series, which includes fellow Australian gaming content creator Loserfruit, and international superstars such as Ninja and Travis Scott.
“We created the Fortnite Icon Series to celebrate the global creators who love Fortnite and have contributed so much to building Fortnite into the entertainment experience it is today,” said Jess Frucht, Associate Director, Influencer Marketing at Epic Games.
“Lachlan’s been a supporter of Fortnite from launch, and he’s built a dedicated following who love watching him play online and at physical events, from the Fortnite World Cup to the Australian Open Fortnite Summer Smash. We’re excited to have him join the series,” concluded Frucht.
In early 2019, Lachlan became the first Australian YouTube Gaming channel to reach 10 million subscribers. Today, Lachlan is a key component of the YouTube Gaming community with a loyal following of 13.9 million global subscribers and over four and a half billion lifetime views across his YouTube channels. In June 2020, Lachlan launched his own competitive gaming and entertainment organisation, PWR, with a focus on helping professional Fortnite players to develop both as players and gaming content creators like himself.
