The Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 MAX wireless headset is out now, and I had a chance to try it out. Firstly, it being a fully wireless headset was a massive plus in my books, as I tend to get wired wrapped around things on my desk, but what really had me impressed was how easy it was to connect and use.
The Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 MAX wireless headset is compatible with all current and last-generation consoles but because this is officially licensed by Microsoft there is one feature that is only available for Xbox users, and that is game and chat volume control options.
It comes with a USB transmitter that is the definition of plug-in and play, and with its over-ear design, the headset fits like a dream and offers nice padding around the ears to make long gaming sessions a pleasant experience. They are also glasses friendly so you don’t have to worry about having the temple of the glasses dig into your ears.
Going from my usual headset to the Stealth 600 Gen 2 MAX, I forgot I was wearing headphones at times with how free it was feeling, especially not being tethered to a controller, and with the cushioning around the ears, I was barely able to feel the headset there. The headset will work across all platforms as long as you have a free USB slot, and a docked Switch can also be used.
So how does it perform?
The speakers are 50mm with neodymium magnets, which are lighter and smaller than other magnets, and will result in a lower overall weight of the headset. They are also optimized for surround sound and work great with Dolby Atmos, clearly hearing footsteps and warnings, and in battle royal games these worked a treat. It also has a large battery life of 48+ hours, which can be recharged via USB-C.
With a new updated flip mic, talking with friends in games come across clearly with an easy-to-use volume control found on the earpiece, and you can control game audio and party audio separately. Another nifty feature is the audio presets; you will be able to switch them with the mode button found under the volume scrollers, allowing you to find that perfect balance and audio style you want. These audio presets are Bass Booster, Treble Boost, Vocal Boost, and Signature Sound, and can be changed with ease with no need to take off the headset.
To custom your experience even further, the Turtle Beach website is home to the Turtle Beach Audio HUB software for download. Here you’ll be able to change audio levels to your liking over the preset options given. Navigating the audio HUB software is quite easy and making my own levels was a dream. The Turtle Beach Audio HUB software is a great way to keep the headset up to date with the latest firmware.
What’s in the box?
Upon unboxing, you will find the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 MAX headset, a USB-C charging cable, 1 USB transmitter, and a quick start guide with a Turtle Beach sticker. All that alongside the headset’s built-to-last design, solid headband, and sturdy mic hinge ensure added durability and functionality for long-time use.
In conclusion, The Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 MAX is a great option if you are looking for a new-gen wireless headset that’s easy to set up by just plugging in a USB stick. You will be enjoying the audio it provides in no time. The only negative is that there are no audio jacks on the headset itself, so even if you wanted to have it plugged into a controller, you are out of luck.
