The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition – Review

If you are looking for the ultimate way to play the award-winning title from Obsidian Entertainment and Private Division, then look no further than The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition. This title has combined all of the content from the base game and the two DLCs, which include Murder on Eridanos and Peril on Gorgon.

The original title came out in 2019 with the Space’s Choice Edition dropping in 2023. If you own the base game and both the DLCs, you can spend $9.99 AUD and get The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition which has lots of improvements, and we will dive into those now.

One of the best things long-time players of this game would have noticed is how the level cap has increased over time, with the game’s original release being capped at 30. When the first DLC dropped, it increased to 33, and when the second DLC dropped, it increased again to 36. The Spacer’s Choice Edition has indeed brought in another increase, only this time, they’ve increased the cap right up to 99.

The gameplay felt a little more polished from the original title with how everything performed, which just shows the power of the current generation. If you want to read an in-depth review of the main storyline, you can read MKAU’s review HERE. You will also be pleased to know the excessive load times don’t feel near as long anymore, which was something I was looking forward to.

I feel like not much was enhanced with the sounds with this edition as they sounded much like the original title back in 2019, which hands down, were fantastic, including everything from the voice acting down to the sounds of the environments and noises the various species made.

As I mentioned before, the controls felt a little more responsive and felt like they had been tweaked a little since the 2019 release, and it’s great to see the developers still improving the title, especially given how long it’s been out.

The first thing you will notice in the “Spacer’s Choice Edition” is the beautiful environment you get to play in, taking full advantage of the power of the current generation of consoles. This edition can run 4K 60FPS which is impressive for the amount going on in this title. It was disappointing that I’m running a 1080P display, so could not get the full extent of the game’s new textures.

The developers also improved the particle physics and added more depth to the scenery, which made this already beautiful title look that little more impressive. The scenery and species living on the planets look absolutely stunning, even more so than when the game was first released, a real testament to Obsidian Entertainment’s love for the title.

The Outer Worlds has come so far since its original release in 2019, and the Spacer’s Choice Edition looks absolutely stunning. It’s great seeing developers going back to their previous efforts and utilizing the power they can to make an award-winning title that much better. If you love a great story and amazing gameplay this title has been designed for you.
