‘Peppy’s Adventure’ is a new, tile puzzle-based game created and published by Pepite Studios where you control Peppy, a bunny that set out to rescue its family from the evil foxes.
The game is a puzzle game where you need to think out your moves ahead of time as there will be a fox or foxes trying to capture you. You will finish a level by eating all the lettuce you can find on the ma, Unique premise but there it is.
Some are harder to get to with locked doors and traps set around them. Players will have the helpful assistance of being able to rewind time if they made a mistake; all the way back up to 10 seconds. I did forget about this skill a lot and tend to learn by failing when it came to harder puzzles.
As you move around the level the fox/s will always be moving toward you and are easy to manipulate to stand on pressure plates or even lure them into pitfalls or bodies of water. As you progress the levels become more difficult with more threats added in and the introduction of elements like ice where you will slide on and only stop if you hit something.
The world map reminds me of ‘Super Mario’ where you can see the level locations on the map which will reflect the terrain you will be in. Each world finishes off with a good old boss fight which is an airship.
What I really liked about the boss fights were still having to puzzle solve with it being like a level with an extra threat added. If you stayed still for too long the ship would beam you up so the objective is to power up a canon by manipulating foxes to assist in by standing on plates, which is easier said than done. You will need to use the shadow of the airship to time the shot right as the canon does need to cool down after each shot.
The difficulty of the puzzles does range from a straight shot to a real head-scratcher. Many times I failed to try ideas until I finally saw the opening to progress. You will earn stars to reflect the time it took to complete the level and if you earned any extra objectives along the way.
The game can be played with a keyboard or controller. With both, I did notice a bit of input error if I was trying to change direction quickly, so if I was going from right to up it would only register the second direction input a few times. If anything it just made me replan so I would not be in as many chases possible.
Overall, Peppy’s Adventure is a fun puzzle game with some really challenging levels that will keep you thinking. It is a game that is easy to play and sink time into, the only flaw I am able to place is the input issue when trying to move fast.
