F1 24 (Steam) – Preview

Codemasters and Electronic Arts are back again for another year for all Formula One fans with F1 24. I am excited about this title from the digital preview event MKAU attended, but having a hands-on preview blew my mind. For someone who has been playing Formula One games for a long time, you too will be impressed with what the development team has pulled out with this year.

MKAU Gaming was fortunate enough to get a preview of F1 24 and there is some content we are allowed to cover below.

The developers have promised this year’s Formula One is going to be the biggest to date, and from what I’ve seen so far there is nothing wrong with that statement. Being a preview build we are only allowed to talk about so much which keeps us and you the reader still excited for more.

Career mode has had its biggest update since 2016 and for those fans who love jumping into the career mode and getting immersed you are in for a treat.

You can race as a rostered driver or create your own driver, but it’s not even current drivers you can bring back, iconic race car drivers like Ayrton Senna and Micael Schumacher can be used and give you the feeling of what it felt like to be in their boots behind the wheel.

You can start in the Formula One championship or Formula Two championships as a rookie and work your way up the ranks. I’m part of the way into the first season and I’m keen to see what else is in store. Being a preview build it’s not a final representation of the game, in the full review though we will deep dive into career mode and everything involved in it. You can expect to see familiar game modes like Time Trials and the obvious Grand Prix, which for the first time I did well in Time Trials.

I was interested to see how much work had gone into the tracks as there was a fair bit of talk about it in the digital preview event, and damn in all the time I’ve been playing Formula One games the tracks have never felt more alive.

The tracks have all been updated to the current Formula One season and the developers did not hold back on the attention to detail. I found myself spending more and more time looking around than actually looking at the track, which might have gotten me in a pickle more times than I would like to admit.

The cars have had performance, handling, and visual upgrades and we are allowed to discuss the visual upgrades. The tracks and the cars look absolutely beautiful and the attention to detail makes you forget sometimes you are playing the game and not just watching TV. I could not find a bad camera angle and how the lighting hit the cars made them glow. I’m so keen for the full review to be able to deep dive into this title and tell you all about it.

I’m excited to get my hands on the full edition of this title and race to my heart’s content. The amount of content built into this year’s title has got me beyond keen to put on the helmet again and race at some of my favourite Formula One tracks. Stay tuned for a full review coming soon.
