Defend The Bits TD has been brought to us by an Australian game development team by the name of Playside Studios. Originally released on IOS & Android, it has since been removed from the stores and reimagined for PC.

The game features over 20 unique units & 14 different environments. Each environment has a separate layout & colour scheme, so you’ll never get sick of seeing the same map. The game took me straight into a tutorial that shows the basics of the games, as well as the enemy’s weaknesses & strengths so you can better decide the layout. Once they have been shown in the tutorial, you can then view the information at any time during the game.

The game has a beautiful UI and the scenery on each map had me blown away with how nice it all looked with its cartoon-like vibe. The sounds some of the units make had me laughing when you click on them to upgrade them or just the noise being made when defeating the enemies.

It’s based around blocks that you need to destroy, which takes you to the tactical side of things. You need to think about what you are placing and where it needs to be put, as your goal is to stop the enemy forces from breaking through.

I found myself constantly wanting to upgrade the units to make them that little bit stronger & quicker. The surprise was the small cosmetic changes the game also makes when upgrading the units, which made me want to upgrade everything to MAX. I constantly found myself needing to sell units to add others, just so I could take on the ever-growing strength of the enemy. I found myself a couple of times going past the “Reward” when completing the level just so I could keep annihilating people and feeling like a boss.

I would recommend this game to anyone interested in killing some time and loved games like Bloons Tower Defence or any games that require some strategy to beat. It is a visually stunning game and I look forward to seeing where this is taken in the future.
