‘Brewpub Simulator’ developed by Star Drifters and published by Movie Games S.A and Surefire Games lets you brew the golden nectar till your heart is content.
When we first load into Brewpub, we have two options. If you’re wanting to try the game out and follow the story that is already there or if you’re looking to just play generally and not want to worry about the story, you can decide to play the Sandbox mode. This is where everything is unlocked and you can just play unadulteratedly.
When starting a new game, Grandpa’s lawyer calls us and lets us know we own his old pub. It’s quite run down and we’re tasked to clean it up and fix it, which doesn’t take very long. Once this is done, we are given a tutorial to follow, and the tutorial is easy enough to understand and it teaches you exactly what you need to know to play the game.
Early on in the game, you’re required to brew your own beer, but later on, if needed, you can always purchase pre-brewed beer that might not be of the best quality but it is useable. Another cool factor is the NPC that is sitting outside your pub. He can give you hints every now and again which is quite helpful.
You also have free reign over your pub, if you want to decorate it a certain way you want to there are multiple options. Outside of your pub, you can actually design a crest for the pub with some decent designs to choose from.
The brewing of the beer is quite fun with multiple recipes you can choose from later on in the game but when you’re first getting started there is a couple to choose from. When you go to start brewing the beer, you’re given instructions that are easy to follow and master. Once you put all the ingredients into the jug, we can now pour our beer into the fermenting jug, which after a day or so will give us our very own beer!
There are certain quests that can be done, like brewing a certain type of beverage that will need to be completed in a certain amount of time and if it isn’t finished then you will have failed said quest. I did have one issue where one of my beer mugs was glitched in the cabinet and I was unable to use/pick it up. So over time, that mug stayed there and I had no use for it.
Another time I was washing one of my mugs and accidentally dropped it in the sink, I dropped it so far back in the sink I wasn’t able to pick it up once again. All I could do was turn the sink on and off, so there are some issues that do need ironing out or forgotten over a cool refreshing brew.
Where to begin with the controls? They are brilliant, easy to learn and understand, with the tutorial that we’re given. There is no way you’ll be able to forget them at all! W/A/S/D for movement, right mouse click to pick up items and left mouse click to pour the drinks.
If you’re also struggling to clean up, you can use the “CTRL” button and it shows items/areas that can be cleaned up. A feature for all you streamers out there that are wanting to try Brewpub Simulator out, is a Streaming-Friendly Mode which is always helpful to keep your pub under strict control.
The graphics are amazing, and the designs of the buildings and road outside of the pub look top notch making it really feel like you’re about to start up your own pub in this town. The NPCs are also designed decently, I remember looking up and seeing a customer wearing a chicken mask! Which was pretty funny at the time.
The pub itself once cleaned up and everything also looks atmospheric and cozy. The decorations that can be used later in the game make the feeling of everything even better as you shine away at glasses proudly. The Audio was also atmospheric and comforting. I wasn’t expecting any voice acting, but to my shock there was, and It’s a great addition. With there being voices connected to some of the players it allows us to feel connected to them as customers.
Another positive note is the music. Whilst in your pub, you can choose to activate the jukebox which will play different types of music. If you do have the Streaming-Friendly Mode enabled, the jukebox will not play any music, and set music will play instead.
This is quite helpful for streamers and content creators. The sound is absolutely fantastic when you pour the beer; it sounds like what it should sound like, a sound many would appreciate. The same for when washing mugs. When outside, you can hear cars honking and birds tweeting; the realism when outside is great. If the music ever gets too loud, you can always turn it down though never had to turn the music down during my time playing.
In conclusion, Brewpub Simulator is a really enjoyable title that can see people brewing beers and making money. If you stop playing the game after a while, you’ll be able to jump right back in and remember mostly everything that you were taught originally. As someone who plays a wide variety of games, I would happily play Brewpub Simulator for hours! The story is fun to get into and the music and graphics make it seem so realistic. I cannot wait to serve my next customer, so come on in!
