Have you ever wanted to use the same headset as some of your favourite e-sports players? Well, AceZone has made that dream a reality with their newest headset, the AceZone A-Spire Wireless Headset, which breaks the boundaries on headsets that you can purchase, and lets you take your gaming to the next level. Founded back in 2018, AceZone’s ambitions were clear; wanting to make the best possible headset for gaming and esports without compromise.
I’m a broken record regarding my love and appreciation for simplistic packaging, and AceZone has hit the nail right on the head. The box is a nice dark blue with a matte finish, and the headset is displayed front and centre. The rear of the box shows a packed esports stadium as well as detailing some of the headset’s features, and the sides display the contents, some more specifications, and snippets from companies that have seen the headset.
Once inside the main packaging, you’ll find the headset packaged away in a neat carry case – a must-have for individuals when travelling, and a great way to keep your investment safe and secure when not in use. The headset folds neatly inside, and there’s a small diagram in case you forget how to pack it away. There’s also a handy mesh pouch holding the auxiliary cable, USB-C cable, and a USB-C dongle, meaning you can keep everything together in one place.
AceZone did not hold back on the design and quality of this headset. The earcups are finished in a beautiful matte black, while the brackets that hold the earcups onto the headband are finished with a matte silver. The top of the headband is wrapped in a leatherette material, the same material used on the ear pads, which I was a little hesitant about as I prefer fabric, but my mind was quickly changed by the level of comfort they offered.
The microphone on the left earcup swivels up and down, which also works to mute the microphone with ease, and it doesn’t stick out as some external microphones do – a nice design feature. I loved the feel and design of this headset, and it’s very clearly made out of quality materials. It feels very durable, unlike some headsets that feel like they would break if you pulled them off your head too hard. The one thing I will fault and this is a personal thing but there is no RGB on this headset which I’m a lover of RGB.
AceZone is not messing around when packing this headset full of features to ensure it’s the best headset on the market. The biggest wireless feature is Bluetooth 5.4, offering speeds up to 3x faster than the standard 2.4 GHz wireless gaming headsets on the market, making it one of the lowest latency headsets on the market. It’s built with precision DAC with 24-bit/384kHz for high-fidelity audio and gives you the option of running three different means to connect; via Bluetooth, Wireless Dongle, or 3.5mm AUX for those pesky Xbox consoles.
The AceZone headset amplifies crucial in-game audio cues and reduces unwanted noises, increasing your reaction time by letting you hear the enemy well before they know where you are. AceZone found what standard and high-end headsets could hear and improved that again so your hearing radius keeps you prepared for what is coming in those sweaty moments when you need to listen.
I was super impressed with the Advanced Hybrid ANC built into this headset, specifically developed for competitive gaming. I couldn’t hear anything that was going on in the house, which was not always a bad thing, but it really let me focus on what I was up against. The Advanced Hybrid ANC has some other benefits, such as reducing brain fatigue and hearing loss, also minimising non-critical game noises while keeping what you need to hear clear and audible.
I have a portable aircon in my room, which is not the quietest thing in the world, and it completely removed the noise from that so I could focus on the important things, like the games or movies I’m watching or playing. Levels of noise cancellation can also be adjusted through the AceZone Mobile App, and you can turn it on and off on the headset.
The microphone also benefits from Ultra Noise Cancelling technology, reducing unwanted external background noise by up to 98% and ensuring that communications between you and your teammates are clear and precise.
There’s also a handy green symbol located on the mic to help you know which side the pickup pattern, and a handy sidetone so that you can hear your own voice and know that you’re communications are coming across clearly.
The AceZone A-Spire Wireless Headset is designed to be comfortable and the combination of leatherette ear pads, which also aid with the ANC capabilities, and weighing in at only 270g, it’s one you can comfortably wear all day.
The elephant in the room, and something a lot of people worry about, is wireless headset battery life. The AceZone A-Spire Wireless Headset has an extensive 35-hour battery life, and it can be used while charging, but it should be noted that if you are connected through Bluetooth and then connect the USB-C cable, it kills the audio for some reason. It can be quite annoying, but if you’re connected through the USB Dongle, you can keep it plugged in. That is the only thing I could fault about the headset which is something that I’m sure could be resolved through a firmware update.
The mobile application really impressed me. The AceZone Mobile App, either on the Apple App Store or Google Play, can personalise the headset to your needs. You’ll be prompted to connect the headset via Bluetooth to your phone the first time you open the app, but once this is done, you’ll have control over the equaliser settings, letting you adjust everything to suit your preferences, and you’ll also be able to adjust the microphone here.
You can also make and store presets to give you a variety of profiles to suit whatever you might be doing, be it gaming, watching movies, or listening to music, and these can be stored on the headset directly, so it won’t matter what device you’re connected to. Unlike some other brands, the application lets you use an 8-band parametric equaliser, so you have full freedom and can make the audio your own.
You also can update the headset firmware through the application if needed which makes for a super user-friendly experience. I loved the UI on the application and there was not one time where I was scratching my head trying to find something as it was all easily accessible.
The AceZone A-Spire Wireless Headset is incredible. It benefits from a comfortable slimline design and great audio quality, and it’s going to take something really special for me to replace it. The concern I had regarding charging and disconnection was not enough to steer me away from the headset.
If you’re looking for a high-quality headset and comfortable headset, the AceZone A-Spire Wireless Headset delivers in spades. The advantage gained through the Advanced Hybird ANC and precision-built DAC make the price well worth consideration.
