Alienware To Power Fortress Sydney And Expand The Australian Esports Playing Field

Dell Technologies today deepens its ongoing partnership with Fortress, with the establishment’s new Sydney site set to expand the largest video game venue ecosystem in the Southern Hemisphere. Fortress Sydney, like Fortress Melbourne, will count Dell Technologies as its end-to-end technology partner, including Alienware Aurora R15 PCs and peripherals, when the second venue opens in early 2023.

Located in Central Park Mall, in the vibrant inner-city suburb of Chippendale, Sydney’s new games complex will host a custom-built esports arena, a fantasy-themed tavern, a sci-fi-inspired bar, arcades, and a PC zone fitted with state-of-the-art Alienware rigs.

As a result of the Dell Technologies partnership, Fortress Sydney will boast the most up-to-date gaming equipment powered by Intel’s recently released 13th Generation Core processors. The 13th Gen Intel® Core™ desktop processors deliver the next generation of breakthrough performance. Now with up to 24 cores (8 Performance-cores and 16 Efficient-cores) and up to 32 threads, plus Performance-cores capable of reaching 5.8 GHz with Intel® Thermal Velocity Boost, gamers at Fortress will be able to unleash the power of next-level performance gained by playing on Alienware devices. Complementing the Alienware Auroras will be 70+Alienware monitors, including the AW2720HF and AW2521HFL monitors.

“Esports and gaming continues to thrive in Australia, and we want to bring the excitement we have seen at the Alienware Arena at Fortress Melbourne to Sydney,” said Adam Lee, Director and General Manager, Consumer, Gaming and Small Business, Dell Technologies ANZ.

“We have a long tradition of supporting the Australian esports scene from the grassroots up, and we couldn’t be happier to partner with Fortress again. Fortress Melbourne has become an unofficial home for gamers of all skill levels and Sydneysiders will now have the same, whether they are a dedicated streamer or casual gamer”.

In addition to the slew of high-end Alienware gaming PCs and equipment, Fortress Sydney’s IT infrastructure solution, will include Dell PowerEdge R750 servers with 3rd Gen Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors for storage, networking, firewall and server back-up. The infrastructure will deliver the superior service and latency required by the high performance Alienware PCs and state-of-the art gaming facility,

The partnership agreement between Fortress and Alienware, which began in 2020 with the opening of the Melbourne venue, will continue until early 2025 and includes Fortress Sydney and Fortress Melbourne. This follows Alienware and Fortress successfully teaming up to host various events during PAX 2022 in Melbourne, including a gala event for the video games community.
The opening of Fortress Sydney also marks a heating up of the Sydney – Melbourne rivalry. For two years, Melbourne laid claim to the largest video games venue in the Southern Hemisphere with Fortress Melbourne. However, now Sydney could put itself at the centre of the Australian games industry with this new venue, which will be host to various tournaments as well as regular events like Tavern Trivia and Dungeons & Dragons nights.

“Fortress is thrilled to announce the renewal of our partnership with Alienware. Fortress aspires to bring customers the absolute best gaming experiences imaginable, and with the most premium PCs and peripherals on market, Alienware enables us to fulfil this promise. As Fortress Sydney opens its doors, we cannot wait to showcase the very latest – and incredible – hardware from our friends and partners, Alienware,” said Jon Satterley, Fortress CEO and Co-Founder.
