If there were ever a game that was fitting for a shadow drop, it has to be Playstack and Cold Symmetry’s dark and unrelenting action RPG, Mortal Shell. Fresh off an appearance as part of Nintendo’s Inside the House of Indies Holiday Event today, Playstack is pleased to reveal the surprise launch of Mortal Shell: Complete Edition on Nintendo Switch. This marks the first time Mortal Shell, alongside the game’s spectacularly well-received DLC—The Virtuous Cycle and Rotten Autumn—is available in one convenient package.
Originally released on Aug. 18, 2020, for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, Mortal Shell took the soulslike scene by storm as players and critics alike sang its praises in universal acclaim. Now, players who have been patiently waiting for the challenging masterpiece to make its way to Nintendo Switch can test their mettle against Mortal Shell’s fearsome adversaries for themselves.
Included in the Mortal Shell: Complete Edition, Nintendo Switch players will also gain access to the game’s two previous DLC entries, The Virtuous Cycle and Rotten Autumn.
The Virtuous Cycle, released exactly one year after launch on Aug. 18, 2021, reinvented the players’ journey through Fallgrim and beyond as adversaries cycle and shuffle upon each death in this roguelike expansion. Demanding and brutal as ever, players can never be sure what lies ahead.
Scattered across the land are pillars that will bestow new talents to inherit. With more than 100 new abilities to discover and combine together—from exotic weapon enhancements to entirely new combat maneuvers—players are free to create and develop their very own combat style.
Offering a new mini-quest, ten new skins, an alternative soundtrack, and a powerful new photo editor, Rotten Autumn was a free addition to the base game that wowed players when it was added in October 2020. Centered on Gorf, the humongous verbose amphibian whose enigmatic dialogue and mysterious intentions stirred imagination within the Mortal Shell community, players will be rewarded handsomely with up to ten new Shell shades should they satisfy his desires. From Solomon’s Dracula-inspired war paint to Eredrim’s regal yellow trim, these new skins let players demonstrate their combat mastery in a style that suits.
