This is the third DLC instalment to Fate/Samurai Remnant created by Koei Tecmo Games and Omega Force, it is available for purchase on the PSN store, Steam, and Nintendo Store.

The third volume finds the main character Miyamoto Iori being called by a mysterious voice as the land of Edo is in danger once again, as there are cases of children disappearing across the land and rumors of a new dark spiriting raising Yoshiwara. To start this DLC players must be in chapter 3 of the main story arc and have the mission “Seek the Heroes that survive” Upon reaching these conditions and you can freely move around the map of Edo you will see “Record’s Fragment: Bailong and the Crimson Demon” to start this new storyline.

With this new threat, Iori and his companion Saber will gather with old allies to take on the danger of Edo, there are new faces to this new story arc one of which is a very familiar face from Koei Tecmo’s history of games with Zhao Yun (Dynasty Warriors), a hero from the Three Kingdoms Era enters the fray he has come to the land of Edo in search of his young prince that was also kidnapped, a master spear user Zhao Yun offers amazing gameplay.

Along with his spear skills Zhao Yun is also able to showcase his mounted combat skills with his entrusted horse “Bailong”, along with Zhao Yun there is a new Rogue Berserker that plays a part in the story from her visual she first appears to be of a demonic origin with horns from her head, but her intentions are not as a threat as she assists as a summon feature.

Plus the DLC does something huge for the plot and pacing of the game, it shifts away from Iori and Saber, and you get to spend a ton of it playing as, and seeing the perspectives of the other Masters and their servants, which is always great to see to expand on the other characters that we have seen but needed to know more about.

Iori and Saber can learn new skills from Zhao Yun to expand into the already massive skill tree of attacks and moves to learn such as, Fearless Foray is a move that Iori can learn as he spins while slashing letting loose flames from his blade it makes a great skill for causing staggers during an enemy attack, leaving them open for a counter hit. Along with the new skills to learn, players can earn new cosmetic blade mountings to change the design of Iori’s katana.

Final thoughts, While Fate/Samurai Remnant offers an amazing storyline each DLC so far has improved in the storytelling and introduced new characters into the fold that deliver great gameplay “Bailong and the Crimson Demon” is a good addition to the lineup of DLC drops that have been had so far that runs with a side story along the core games experience, and bringing Zhao Yun into it was a surprise as I am an avid Dynasty Warriors player so it was great to see the character have a new design and characteristic around him.

Sadly, I can see this DLC instalment falling through the cracks as its release window was surrounded by many other massive games. Hopefully, it gets the attention it deserves and is well-received across the community.
