Weforge Studio Drops New Gameplay Trailer For Macabre

Sydney based Australian independent developer, weforge studio, has released a new gameplay trailer for their upcoming co-op stealth extraction horror game, Macabre, unveiling new aspects and gameplay mechanics of the game.

The new trailer and information arrive as weforge studio launches a Kickstarter campaign for Macabre, to support the independent developer self-publish the title, which they are targeting for a 2025 release. The Kickstarter campaign will commence at 10pm May 21 AEST | 8am May 21 EST. The Kickstarter is chockablock with exclusive in-game and physical rewards, as well as a limited run of Early Bird specials across several tiers, including Alpha Access, Minatures and the base game.

Trapped within a Rift of Endless Timelines, you and up to three friends are relentlessly pursued by a shapeshifting horror known only as MACABRE. This interdimensional terror meticulously assesses each player to determine if you’re a threat or potential prey. As it becomes familiar with your tactics, any predictability on your part will prompt Macabre to adapt, forcing you to innovate or face dire consequences.

Macabre demands stealth, cunning, and sharp wits. Choose to work together and face Macabre as one, or betray your teammates and claim the lion’s share of the loot. Just know Macabre preys on those who stray from the pack!

Successfully navigating encounters with the Macabre requires perfectly timed distractions, stuns, or even sacrifices. Meanwhile, you’ll need to keep an eye out for crafting items, from mundane household objects to interdimensional artefacts. Every item found within the Rift could unlock new equipment that not only helps you counter Macabre’s growing threat but also unveils previously concealed secrets.

Every decision you face is a tightrope walk between triumph and doom. Will teamwork prevail, or will the temptation of individual gain lead you to betrayal?

“Having started my career on Aliens vs. Predator, I’ve been keen to return to sci-fi horror games, and Macabre has truly scratched that itch,” commented Art director, Jake Hempson. “This game intricately combines ‘space magic’, bone-chilling creature design, and elaborate world-building within an eerie atmosphere. I’m excited to infuse Art with the gameplay to create layers of mystery and, of course, lots of Spooks!”

“We have spent the last two years working hard, juggling regular jobs with game development,” said Game Director, Jake Davey. “Macabre is feeling great and now at a stage where gamers can see the game for themselves and hopefully decide they’d like to support us in the Kickstarter campaign, so we can go full time on development and full release” Jake added.

Macabre is currently being developed for PC with a target release date of 2025.
