The award-winning System Shock remake, based on the iconic 1994 sci-fi action game, has received its highly anticipated version 1.2 PC content updated – adding an expanded ending, a new female hacker protagonist and dozen of gameplay enhancements.
Nightdive Studios’ stunningly faithful recreation of the classic shooter/immersive sim was released to critical acclaim in 2023 on PC.
System Shock’s patch v1.2 features the addition of a revised ending and optional female hacker protagonist, as well as numerous improvements, game optimisations, and fixes. Players who return to Citadel station to face SHODAN — the original rogue AI with evil intent — will be treated to enhanced enemy encounters (including new attacks and behaviours) and updated game balancing. The patch also introduces a new waypoint system for System Shock’s easy mission difficulty mode.

The System Shock remake combines the gameplay of the iconic original game with all-new HD visuals, updated controls, an overhauled interface, and new sounds and music. Nightdive Studios worked closely with many of the members of the original System Shock team, including Terri Brosius, the original voice of one of gaming’s most iconic villains, SHODAN.

System Shock releases on 21 May 2024, available in both physical and digital formats on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The game will be released in digital format only on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
