OSRS: The Shining Kingdom Of Varlamore Is Open

If you’ve been looking forward to a new area expansion from OldSchool Runescape, the wait is finally over. The team at OSRS has recently revealed a major new area expansion: The Shining Kingdom of Varlamore. Your OSRS gameplay is about to take an exciting new direction.

Varlamore has taken more than ten years to develop and is the third Region of the Zeah continent to launch. This incredible new update is sure to delight both new and existing OSRS fans, so here’s what you can expect from Varlamore.

 What is Varlamore?

Varlamore is the kingdom of Sun Queen Zyanyi Arkan, which has been closed off to visitors until now. Now, the gates have been opened for the first time, bringing players a whole new range of activities.

This is just part one of Varlamore’s release, with further releases for Part Two and Part Three due later in 2024.

How can you access Varlamore?

To access Varlamore, you must first complete the Children of the Sun mission, which signals the beginning of the Varlamore questline. Once the quest is completed, Prinze Itzla will direct players to the gate at East Varrock, where Regulus Cento will be there to permit the player to travel to Varlamore. This is done via a quetzal, providing a dramatic start to your Varlamore adventure.

What can you expect from the Shining Kingdom of Varlamore?

For now, a limited number of areas are open to players in Varlamore. These include:

 Civitas illa Fortis

The Civitas Illa Fortis is the capital of Varlamore, which contains the royal palace of Queen Zyayi Arkan. Here, you’ll find the Fortis Colosseum, where players can play a gladiator-themed minigame designed in waves that will continue to challenge.

Avium Savannah

In Avium Savannah, a large open plain located in the south of the capital, players can boost their hunting skills and practice hunting with various hunter creatures. To access the Hunter Guild, you’ll need at least a level 46 Hunter skill and may want to buy VirtGold to progress to this level. You can also experience the Colossal Wyrm Remains in the southern part of the region, where you’ll find an agility activity with plenty of rewards to unlock.

 Ralos’ Rise

Finally, Ralos’ Rise is the mountain in the west, which is home to the Teomat monastery, among other locations. In the town of Cam Torum, you’ll find the Neypotzli dungeon, which you can access after completing the Perilous Moons. You’ll need at least combat-level 75 to do well here. This will familiarize those who have completed other dungeon activities, such as Morytania’s Barrows and the Gauntlet in Prifdinnas.

While still in its early days, the OSRS team has been busy improving based on feedback. You can learn more about The Shining Kingdom of Varlamore in OSRS’s latest trailer below, and get ready to enjoy a whole new region to explore.
