Samsung Supersizes Home Cinema Experiences With New 98-Inch QLED 4K Smart TV

Samsung Electronics Australia has today announced the expansion of its award-winning 2023 TV line-up by adding a supersized 98-inch Samsung QLED Q80C 4K TV to the range. With an RRP of $11,649, Samsung’s QLED Q80C is priced to be the brand’s most accessible Quantum-dot 98-inch TV ever brought to market, delivering on Samsung’s commitment to provide a screen for every experience.

A recent Kantar Worldpanel report[1] shows that a larger screen size and the ability to access all key streaming apps are the two most prominent drivers for Australians intending to upgrade their Samsung TV in 2023. Supported by Samsung’s Quantum-dot technology and Tizen Operating System, the 98-inch QLED Q80C offers immersive premium picture quality and prominent streaming and gaming apps built-in, meeting this local demand for customised big screen entertainment experiences at home.

“We’ve worked hard to not only pack our premium AV technologies into a 98-inch form factor but to bring the best of Samsung’s entertainment ecosystem including Gaming Hub[2], Smart Hub, and Samsung TV Plus to the QLED Q80C TV as standard. Our aim is to deliver the type of no-compromise big screen home cinema experiences that Australians desire while continually working to make them more accessible to more Australians to enjoy,” says Jeremy Senior, Vice-President, Consumer Electronics, Samsung Australia.

Ultra-Large Screen and Mesmerising Quality

The new Samsung QLED Q80C 4K TV joins Samsung’s 98-inch Neo QLED QN90A TV in the Australian marketplace as ultra-large displays that offer big immersive experiences enhanced by Samsung’s innovative picture optimisation technology and SuperSlim design credentials.

Pairing Direct Full Array and Quantum HDR+ technology[3] with a Quantum Processor 4K, Samsung’s QLED Q80C uses a deep learning picture enhancement algorithm to upscale content to 4K resolution, providing incredible picture quality with minimal noise[4]. Samsung’s LED zone technology adjusts brightness and black levels for bold contrast, depth and detail while Samsung’s Quantum Dot technology delivers more than 100% colour volume enabling accurate colour reproduction at any level of brightness[5].

At a mere 48.5mm top to bottom, the Q80C’s beautiful SuperSlim design provides a near-bezeless finish to deliver a rich edge-to-edge picture that defies limits and a TV profile that can blend comfortably into virtually any space. Despite its slim bezel, the QLED Q80C packs a powerful punch when it comes to audio, thanks to the inclusion of Dolby Atmos[6], Object Tracking Sound Lite[7], and Samsung’s latest generation of Q-Symphony[8].

Built for Your Favourite Content

With the QLED Q80C as the centrepiece of their smart home, Australians can get the most out of a connected home experience thanks to the built-in Smart Hub feature. Bringing Entertainment, Gaming, Ambient options, and SmartThings together into one place[9], the QLED Q80C can help users manage various connected devices and appliances across the home, adding a new layer of convenience to everyday routines[10].

Supporting 4K resolution at 120 frames per second via HDMI 2.1, the QLED Q80C provides ultra-high bandwidth for compatible gaming devices to help keep Australians ahead of their virtual-world competition[11]. Ultra-wide Game View, which offers a flexible aspect ratio – from 16:9 to 32:9 – paired with Game Bar puts gamers in control by letting them check Variable Refresh Rates at speed, while Xbox Game Pass[12] offers console-free cloud gaming[13].

With Samsung’s TV Plus service offering 91+ channels and thousands of on-demand, subscription-free shows[14], the 98-inch QLED Q80C enables Australians to feel as immersed in a movie as they are at a cinema directly from home.

Pricing and Availability

The Samsung 98-inch QLED Q80C 4K Smart TV is available now from authorised resellers and Samsung’s Online Store. The QLED Q80C’s ultra-large predecessor – the Neo QLED 98″ QN90A 4K Smart TV – continues to range in select retailers and via Samsung’s Online Store.

Australians can buy with confidence from Samsung, the Global No.1 TV brand for 17 years running[15]. Samsung’s 2023 TV range currently holds a Canstar Blue 2023 Innovation Excellence Award in Home Entertainment, in addition to Finder’s 2023 Best TV brand as voted by Australians in its 2023 Customer Satisfaction award survey.
