The Elder Scrolls Online: High Isle – Preview

The popular MMORPG Elder Scrolls Online is close to another expansion drop. The High Isle expansion will focus on the legacy of the Breton’s storyline and takes place in Systres Archipelago, a cluster of islands that have not been shown in any past Elder Scrolls game. Featuring a brand new region to explore, players can expect a lot more story and side quests, so here are a few things players can look forward to experiencing when High Isle drops.

The High Isle is a Mediterranean island that is home to the Bretons and a shadowy cult called the Ascendant Order, whose goal is to cause havoc across all of Tamriel. The new cities you can explore have European-styled architecture and are home to docks and ports for boats of all sizes.

In addition to new quests and dungeons to explore, players can recruit two new companions. This can be done by completing the character’s introduction quests for Ember, a Khajit mage, and Isobel, a Breton warrior. Both are a great choice and can assist the player greatly and will help during the two new dungeons and a new raid, all of which will offer the best loot available.

The islands also hold a world event threat – the volcanic vents. These are timed events that can happen at certain locations across the map, and players will team up to fight back waves of enemies. When you find one, active or not, it will be marked on your map for reference.

A new feature is the addition of a card game called Tales of Tribute. It features its own questline and will reward players with coffers containing items like gold and crafting materials. The questline can be picked up from an NPC called Brahgas, who can be found at Gonfalon Bay, and as you play more Tales of Tribute, you will earn additional decks that can be added to your collection.

The Elder Scrolls Online: High Isle is releasing on the 6th of June for PC, Mac, and Stadia, but console players will have to wait until the 21st of June for release. Stay tuned for when we get a chance to play High Isle and give you our thoughts in a new review – this is just a small preview of what to look forward to.
