The ATEN USB-C 4K Ultra Gaming Mini Dock is a small and lightweight display device, ideal for Switch gamers that travel due to its space-saving design when compared to the Switch Dock. As the dock supports USB-C connections, any USB-C compatible device, including a selection of Apple products, can be plugged in and have the phone, tablet, or computer displayed on a TV or monitor via HDMI.
Another major feature is the power pass-through, so whichever device you are displaying will also be charging at the same time. Unfortunately, the unit does not come with a power supply, but any USB-C power unit will work perfectly fine. For example, I am using the power adapter that was supplied with the Switch originally.
Unboxing and setting up the ATEN USB-C 4K Ultra Gaming Mini Dock is quick and easy with no complicated steps involved.
When you unbox it, you will find the product and a short USB-C cable to use as your display cable, and a very simple manual. All you will need is an HDMI cable and the power supply as mentioned above. Plug it all in and enjoy resolutions up to 4K at 30Hz.
The unit also has two standard USB connections on the back which can be used as external hubs on a computer, offering more space for your mouse and keyboard, or for the gamers, a way to charge a Switch Pro Controller and other peripherals.
Other than it being a great unit for a travelling gamer, it can easily be adapted by business people as a way to quickly display digital content on a larger screen with minimal effort. Regardless of how it is used, it offers a great way to quickly and easily set up a workplace while taking up minimal real estate.
