Perth-Based Pentanet.GG Become First Oceanic League of Legends Team To Make It Out Of Group Stages at International Tournament

League of Legends fans across Australia & New Zealand have reason to celebrate today, as Pentanet.GG, the Perth-based Oceanic representatives at the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI), qualified for the next stage of the tournament overnight, after winning three of their nine group stage matches.Their three wins against the Russian-based Unicorns of Love cemented them a spot out of their 3-team group, a result that was not predicted by the majority of international analysts.

The result marks the first time an Oceanic team has ever made it out of a group stage at any official international League of Legends tournament (such as MSI or Worlds) and means the team will now face the world’s best in the next stage of the tournament.

The team will play next on May 14th, against opponents to be decided in the coming days. League of Legends fans can find an updated schedule of MSI games at lolesports.com/schedule and follow Pentanet on social media @PentanetGG.
