HyperX, the gaming division of Kingston Technology, today announced Australian football star Mitch Robinson is the latest addition to its HyperX Hero roster. A diehard gamer and pro streamer, Mitch has also received a HyperX hero image which demonstrates his competitive personality and bash-and-crash playing style on the football and virtual fields.
“My gaming style is aggressive just like the way I play football” said Mitch. “When HyperX approached me to create my hero image, I knew it had to present my style on and off the footy field.”
Family ties are central to Mitch’s gaming. At the age of 6, he got into gaming to connect with his big brothers who both enjoyed playing Counter-Strike 1.6, Quake, and Team Fortress 2. His love of gaming continues today.
“When I finish work I get to come home and play games with my friends and family. It gives me a great outlet to switch off mentally from the stresses of the AFL season, while giving me another outlet to flex my competitive mentality,” said Robinson.
A hard-nosed, 10-year Australia football veteran, Mitch was voted the Brisbane Lions’ Best and Fairest in 2015. He tallied a career-high 19 goals in the 2019 season and helped propel Brisbane to their first Finals Series in 10 years. Apart from his excellent career on the field, Mitch Robinson is also known for his passion for PC gaming as he’s dedicated to improving his gaming skills almost every day. In 2018, Mitch was signed by Australia esports team The Chiefs and became the first Australian Football player to join an esports team.
As a HyperX Hero, Mitch will be equipped with HyperX gear whenever he’s streaming or gaming with his #RobSquad.
“We are thrilled to have Mitch join our heroes’ lineup and go on this journey with us to continue to defunk the gamer stereotype,” said Susan Yang, Marketing Director, APAC Region, HyperX. “HyperX’s global ambassadors are a group of pro athletes, musicians and streamers who remind us all that no matter where you come from, as long as you love gaming, you are a gamer, and We’re All Gamers.”
To celebrate Mitch Robinson becoming the latest Australian Hero, HyperX will collaborate with local retailer Mwave to host a 48-hr rush sale from 24th July to 25th July. During the two days, the first 25 fans who spend at least AU$60 buying HyperX peripherals through Mwave, will have a chance to win special gifts such as Mitch’s favorite bundle or a Game Enthusiast bundle. Prizes are limited and on a first come, first served basis, so grab it while you can! For more information, please visit the HyperX website and brand store.
